3-Day Lake Tahoe Tour from San Francisco (tour only)

Leave the driving to us and experience year-round fun at Lake Tahoe in this amazing three-day tour. Go skiing! Go golfing! Jet ski! Cruise the emerald waters of the lake. Climb a mountain! There’s so much to see and do. And at the end of the day, after a great meal, enjoy live entertainment or try your luck at one of the exciting casinos! (Is this a winning hand or what?)

It’s so easy and affordable. Leaving early Friday, you’ll meet your tour mates and engaging Expedition Leader at one of two convenient San Francisco hotels – at Fisherman’s Wharf or Union Square – or in the East Bay.

Want to enjoy the morning view with your coffee? Catch up on your reading? Or take a nap? It’s all good as we cross the Sacramento River Delta. After a short pickup stop in Rancho Cordova, outside Sacramento, it’s on to South Lake Tahoe on Highway 50 through the beautiful El Dorado National Forest. Along the way, your tour leader may share stories of native wildlife that thrives in the area and the historic California Gold Rush, which helped shape the destiny of this area. (Relax! There’s no test!)

You’ll arrive around noon at the Lakeside Inn in Stateline, Nevada just blocks from South Lake Tahoe, California, all relaxed and raring to go! You’re on your own for accommodations and setting a weekend agenda limited only by your energy and imagination. (If you’d like help booking a room or renting gear, just ask us!)

In the summer and fall, you may be drawn to the blue waters of the lake for an Emerald Bay cruise on the M.S. Dixie. Or maybe you want to get a bird’s-eye view of the bay in a helicopter flyover.  If you are a golfer, you may discover your perfect swing on one of Lake Tahoe’s dozens of courses. (The beauty of the links may help you forget any bogeys!) Lace up your hiking boots and roam some of the great trails in the area, including D.L. Bliss State Park, where you can take a selfie with the Balancing Rock as you wonder, how does it stay up there?

Rent a kayak or paddleboard and motor around the lake on your own power. Want something more adventurous? Hook up to a parasail and get an exciting, high-energy experience over the water. Explore Vikingsholm Castle’s outstanding Scandinavian architecture and scenic location. Or find some fun in the sun at popular Baldwin Beach. (Remember, sunscreen!)

If it isn’t snow-skiing season, you’ll find great outdoor experiences at Heavenly Mountain Resort in the summer and fall. Ride the scenic gondola to the mountaintop (selfie time!), fly across canyons on a zip line, ride the mountain’s roller coaster, scale the climbing wall or try your hand panning for gemstones. (And the views from the peak? Oh my, it’s a memory you’ll never forget!)

Of course, during the snowy seasons, the area is a winter wonderland. Lake Tahoe skiing at Heavenly and other resorts around the lake is world-class. You can enjoy Nordic skiing, snowshoeing and other snow sports. The options are almost limitless.

No matter the season, the exhilarating nightlife awaiting you at Lake Tahoe is an experience all to itself. Casinos in Stateline give you a chance to strike it rich at the slot machines or gaming tables -- or have a great time trying! (And, of course, placing a daytime bet or two can be a blast, too!) You’ll enjoy great food at great restaurants and see top performers in action on concert stages.

If you’ve played hard on Saturday (and of course you will), not to worry. You can sleep in Sunday because pickup at the Lakeside Inn is set for 3:30 p.m. You’ll be on your own for a casual dinner during our stop in Sacramento, then sit back and relax as your Expedition Leader delivers you to your hotel drop-off in San Francisco around 8:30 p.m., full of winning memories and a phone full of selfies and scenes from a fantastic weekend adventure.

If you’re looking for a one-way ride to or from Lake Tahoe, we do that too, with departures on Fridays and returning on Sundays.
